A cold hangar is no place to learn. Our indoor debriefing and recreation rooms offer a warm and productive space for reviewing lessons, planning flights, and relaxing between training sessions.
As part of our curriculum, instructors can simulate system failures and other in-flight challenges in the simulator, letting you practice in-flight scenarios without any real-life consequences.
Training Doesn't Stop During the Winter
You've already worked so hard to learn new aviation skills, maneuvers, and knowledge. Don't let all that time and effort go to waste during the winter. If the weather permits, you'll fly your next lesson in our FAA-approved training curriculum. If conditions are poor, we transition to the Redbird FMX to log instrument training, fly approaches, simulate cross-country flights, and run emergency simulations.

Is it safe to train in winter weather?
Safety is our first priority in every season. We fly only when conditions are appropriate, and on days when the airplanes are grounded we transition to the simulator. Winter flying, done safely with an experienced instructor, also makes you a sharper, more capable pilot, and our indoor debriefing rooms keep the learning comfortable between sessions.
How does winter affect aircraft performance and lessons?
Cold weather actually improves aircraft performance in some ways, and learning to operate in it, from preflight in the cold to handling winter conditions, builds valuable real-world skills. On days when weather prevents flying, your lesson continues in the simulator with instrument work, approaches, simulated cross-countries, and emergency scenarios.
Will weather cause a lot of cancellations?
